Below are instructions on what to do to check your current training record:

  1. Establish a personal account on the my.scouting.org website (if you do not have an account already) and review your training record.

  2. Review your training status “Requirements” under the My Training tab to determine whether the system lists you in the correct position(s) and properly depicts your training status for each position (trained versus untrained).

  3. You may find a position for which you have been listed about which you may not have been aware or you may be listed incorrectly.  In addition, the system may not be recording your completed training correctly.  If incorrect, then please contact Ken Klemm, Vice President of Program, or Kelly Rodrigue, the Council Training Chair, to provide as much information as possible to correct or update your position(s) and training records in Scouting.

  4. You should be aware that most out-of-council trainings do not automatically post to your training record.  So, any time that you participate in an out-of-council training, you should provide whatever documentation received following that training in an e-mail to Ken Klemm or Kelly Rodrigue for that training to be posted.

  5. Training generally may be completed in two ways:  online or in-person.  While online training may be preferable for some leaders because it can be done at your own pace, the Council also regularly offers in-person trainings for those who prefer this method.  Check the Council website calendar for other trainings that may be held and to register.

  6. Some positions (like Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster) require an in-person training for Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) to be considered trained, and the Council offers this training regularly at camps and during other times.  In addition, some unit leaders may be considered untrained because of not updating training for courses such as Hazardous Weather.  So, after you check your training status, please determine what you may be missing and either update the training online or seek an in-person class.

Some leaders also may be registered in positions like Committee Member but not actually performing any specific duties related to the role.  But, if registered in such role, you will be expected to be both Youth Protection Training certified and trained in such specific position.  You should consider asking your Chartered Organization Representative or unit leader responsible for re-chartering to change your position code from whatever role currently registered to the position of Scouter Reserve (Position Code 91) as this latter role only requires Youth Protection Training but no other training.  You still will be permitted to assist and to act as a unit volunteer leader if registered in this role and current on your Youth Protection Training certification, but it eliminates any requirement for additional training.
