The lake at Salmen Scout Reservation needs all of our help! Per the recommendation of Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fish and Parks representatives, the lake needs to stock triploid grass-eating carp to control the underwater vegetation. This type of carp (unlike the invasive species) does not reproduce and eats vegetation for its food source. And, it allows us control the vegetation in a natural way rather than by using herbicides or other chemicals. The level of vegetation currently in the lake threatens the oxygen supply, the water quality, and the health of the fish population.
